Win it for William
Thank you for visiting our team page and helping us to reach our fundraising goal!
Our team is joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in the Head for the Cure 5K - Metro KC on Sunday, August 29th, 2021. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
We are walking for William David Robinson in remembrance of his 21st birthday! William was born on August 21, 2000. William enriched the lives of those around him through his glowy smile, silly personality, and warm, caring heart. William had a curiosity about life, he loved to admire the beauties of this world. He received his certificate in “Aircraft Fabrication and Assembly Technology” at age 19. When he wasn’t studying computer science or programming, he would spend time with loved ones or find new topics to learn, especially about world history. When spending time with loved ones, he would smile so much, appreciate every moment, and help others enjoy even the little things in life. William was known to say the silliest one-liners, he loved to make others laugh. Not to mention, he was the best UNO player at the table!
Our beloved William was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2016. Through his treatments, he still cared for others and made sure everyone else was okay. He was grateful for every moment. With his strength and all the support he received, he battled for over 4 years after his diagnosis. William rested peacefully on May 13, 2021.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure locally support The University of Kansas Cancer Center, Solace House and Children's Brain Tumor Project. Funds will nationally support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Each year, over 80,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
