Brain tumors have been a part of my life for 22 years now, more so in the last 7 years during which time I’ve had 5 surgeries, 3 radiation therapies, and tried 4 combinations of targeted medications to finally be experiencing stable MRIs.
The type of tumor I have is extremely rare and new research is our best hope for a cure.
Over 80,000 more people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor this year. There are only 5 FDA approved drugs to treat some of these brain tumors. That is not enough.
This 5k will raise awareness for the need for brain cancer research and directly benefits the Alvord Brain Tumor Center at UW which is where one of my teams of doctors is.
This year, the 5k is VIRTUAL. What that means is that you can participate however you want and wherever you want and any time between now and June 26! Be sure to snap a selfie when you do and then on June 26 tune in to the virtual event and you can share you 5k selfie! You could also just run with us in spirit from the comfort of your couch if that’s more your style. Regardless, I would LOVE your support by joining our team so we can raise awareness for the need for increased brain cancer research.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
