Momma Radke's Runners (and Walkers)
Thank you for visiting our team page and helping us to reach our fundraising goal! Our team is joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure - Cleveland virtual 5k this October. For more info on the virtual 5k visit HFTC’s website.
For the third year, we are supporting Head for the Cure in honor of Diane Radke, aka Momma Radke. She was a loving wife, mother and dedicated 2nd grade teacher. She passed away on January 7th 2019, but her memory lives on strong in her family, friends and students who loved her.
We established this team in 2018 as a way to support the cause and help fight for the cure. At the time we established the team, Diane was still fighting her second brain tumor in 2 years. She was excited to participate in the day however she could and was honored that a small group of people would come out in her name.
She was upbeat and positive during her entire time fighting this disease, from initial diagnosis to recovering from harsh chemo treatments to being placed in hospice care. She kept her trust in God and her family that everything was going to be alright and that we had done and were doing everything we could. It is with that mindset we establish this team in her memory: to continue to do everything we can to fight off this disease.
Your support and donations are greatly appreciated. Last year, we grew from 9 to 33 people and raised over $1,000! I would love to have everyone back from last year and continue to grow our team. I have established a modest goal of $1,500 for our team to raise. So if you can, please support by participating in this great event with me and my family. If you have questions call or text Chad 216.570.0901.
Some information about Head for the Cure can be found below:
Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
