Team Boyle

Hi dearest family and friends.

2020 has been a bear. I find myself asking almost daily: what will happen next? What other disaster will descend upon us? My heart and my mind, as I am sure yours do as well, experience about a thousand different emotions every single day. The emotional swings are exhausting.

School has started but it has not really started. We wake up and attempt to be on a schedule but it almost feels fake at times; as if everything is on hold for the indefinite future and we are just playing a part in some sort of tragedy. And on top of this, we are living socially distanced lives in a semi-constant state of anxiety of ourselves and our loved ones possibly getting sick. People are losing their lives and their livelihoods every single day and what are we doing about it? Are we next? When will this nightmare end? As I said before, exhausting.

With all of the craziness and uncertainty in the world, there are some constants that we can latch onto and help to make some positive change.

I was at a lovely socially distanced, outside birthday party last night and I learned that one of my good friends has a life long friend in her 40’s that was recently diagnosed with GBM. In March. At the beginning of the pandemic. Learning news like that immediately brings perspective. There is much work to be done in the fight against brain cancer.

The Head for the Cure 5K Event in San Antonio this September looks a bit different than previous years. The entire event will be virtual but there are a multitude of ways you can help in the the fight against brain cancer through this event.

For the 7th year in a row, I have formed Team Boyle in honor of my beautiful dad, Jim Boyle.

And last but certainly not least, you can help to spread the word on social media or by simply telling your friends and family about this amazing organization and the work that it does to find a cure for brain cancer and to support the brain cancer community.

Please know how thankful my family and I are for all of your support throughout the years and we truly hope that all of you are staying safe and healthy in mind and in spirit.

Sending so much love, Erin Dempsey
