First, thank you for visiting my team’s page! In February of this year, I had my 6th surgery to remove a recurrent tumor. The type of tumor I have is extremely rare and new research is our best hope. This 5k will raise awareness for the need for brain cancer research and directly benefits the Alvord Brain Tumor Center at UW which is where one of my teams of doctors is.
This year, the 5k has gone VIRTUAL. What that means is that you can participate however you want and wherever you want! Many of us will be running a 5k near our homes before the 27th then at 8am on Saturday, June 27th watching the Facebook live event together via Zoom, and sharing selfies from our 5ks.
However, you could just run with us in spirit from the comfort of your couch if that’s more your style. Regardless, I would LOVE your support by joining our team so we can raise awareness for the need for increased brain cancer research.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
