2020 Central Texas

Elise Braillard Osborn Strickland (or “ebo” as she was known to her husband) was a beloved mother, wife, daughter, and friend, who also became a courageous fighter after she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma. Her desire to participate in a new medical trial at the Duke University Cancer Center was valiant—not only to try and beat the disease herself, but also to do whatever she could to further research and help medical professionals find a cure. While we didn’t have nearly enough time with her, we’re thankful that this trial gave us twice the amount of time than initially predicted. We know that her impact and legacy will continue on forever with her contributions to glioblastoma and brain cancer research.

Though our loss has left us heartbroken, now it’s our turn to be courageous and continue Elise’s legacy. Team EBO is picking up her mantle and continuing the fight against brain cancer by once again participating in the Head for the Cure 5K run/walk, in Austin, TX on March 31, 2019. Head for the Cure is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research, including glioblastoma.

Funds raised by Head for the Cure support things like the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (a network of medical centers that includes Duke University, where Elise received treatment) in developing and conducting state-of-the-art clinical trials and investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.

Even though Elise isn’t here to walk with us on this day, we’re honored to walk in her place and for her memory. Please consider making a donation today in memory of Elise and to help us continue her legacy of courageously fighting to defeat brain cancer.

More about Head for the Cure:
