The Great Huskini
Thank you for visiting my team page and helping me to reach our fundraising goal!
In November 2012 I was told I had a brain tumor in the left side of my frontal lobe. The tumor looked like I had a baseball in my head. I went to University of California San Francisco to have the tumor removed by a specialist on the 13th of February 2013. After the surgery I was in ICU for 6 days and in 2 different hospitals for 20 more days. I was told when I woke up that my tumor was cancerous and what the next 2 years would look like. I had 6 weeks of radiation treatment that occurred every day and chemo for an entire year. Immediately after surgery I couldn’t talk and I had to relearn how to do everything in rehab in both San Francisco and Austin. Right now I go to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville Florida and my MRIs have been showing no regrowth of the tumor. I also work with UF neuropsychology and UF Integrative medicine to help my memory, concentration and health here in Ganiesville. I am now a dad to my son Henry and my daughter Avery. I am also the husband to the best wife Angela.
Head for the Cure is a charity that I support because very little money goes to research for brain tumors. Their research has provided new ways to beat tumors other than radiation and chemo. So far I have been beating mine because I seem to be lucky. Every person is different and every tumor reacts differently, and that is why especially brain cancer is so hard to treat. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research. A donation for Head for the Cure will be used to help people like me and the doctors working on cures and treatments. Please donate to my page at Head for the Cure.
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Orlando on February 8, 2020.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
