Thank you for visiting our team page and helping us to reach our fundraising goal!
Our team is joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Brain Cancer Awareness 5K - Pittsburgh on August 17, 2019. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
In 2016, Bre started to experience episodes where she would pass out and thankfully, she worked at a hospital where fellow workers would try to figure out what was happening and help her to the ER. Drs. weren't sure what was going on and they seemed to slow down. Until the following year when it started up again. This time, a tumor was showing on her scans. My baby sister had a tumor, the size of a golf ball, on her brain. After the holiday's, she started taking chemo pills and by summer, it was gone.
That summer was one we were all thanking God for a little extra as we still had our Sunshine with us. With scans every three months, we were all on our toes when the time came around. November was another scan month and the terrible news came that the tumor was back. She went after it again and by March 2019, it was gone AGAIN! AN extra month of medicine to be sure and scans came back completely cancer free in April!
Every three months comes and we all become a little antsy waiting for scan day and the results to come back. But with the prayer warriors we have between family, friends, and church families, we know we can kick this monsters butt!
