We are Team McCandlish: family and friends of a brain tumor survivor, Andrea McCandlish. As many of you know, Andrea was diagnosed with a brain tumor (Oligodendroglioma) last fall. Since her diagnosis, she has had the tumor removed, completed 6 weeks of radiation, and will be doing a pill-based chemo for the rest of the year. Her healthcare team is very happy with her progress!
Andrea is strong, healthy, and as funny as she's ever been. She's benefited from the incredible medical care facilities and cutting-edge brain research here in Seattle, and we want to make sure other families have access to the same care. To do this, our team has pledged to raise $1,000 as part of the Head for the Cure 5K in Seattle on June 29, 2019.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure 5k support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
