Honoring Kelly Rider
Thank you for visiting our page to help honor Kelly Rider. The world lost an amazing woman on May 29, 2021 after a long 14 year battle with brain cancer. Kelly was an amazing wife, mother, "Grammie", and my mother-in-law. I will for ever remember Kelly as loving her boys more than anything in the world; she still had ornaments from when her sons, Alex and TD, were little boys that we would hang each Christmas, pictures all over the house (each with a story), seashells she found with the boys, and she made sure each greeting and goodbye included a big hug, kiss, and an “I love you”. One word to describe Kelly is “goofy”, she always had a story to tell, a silly game, or a fun gift. My first Easter with their family included an “Egg Fight” where two people hit eggs together...one was hard boiled and the other was not; she always had silly ideas to make others laugh. Kelly was also selfless as she constantly helped to make sure others were happy and content before she sat down, unless Jeopardy was on . Kelly knew no stranger; she had open arms to everyone she met. I am so grateful for her, she was an Angel in real life and now she is an Angel watching over us.
Each year, over 84,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help us honor Kelly and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
