Welcome to My Personal Page

Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
As you all know, if we are friends, my son, Alec Wirt, battled brain cancer. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma IV on December 31, 2019 - he was 28 years old at the time. His diagnosis was ultimately termed High Grade Pediatric Glioma - but, unfortunately, the prognosis was just as glim. This news, this diagnosis, never stopped Alec from flashing that million watt smile, from laughing out loud, from sharing ridiculously inappropriate memes or from being there for friends at the drop of a hat. He was a force of life! He lived life to the fullest every second he could - in spite of his diagnosis, in spite of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, in spite of two brain surgeries, in spite of two separate rounds of radiation and a gamma knife radiation on top of that, HE NEVER GAVE UP! Alec passed on June 19, 2021 and he is greatly missed by more than I can ever say. He set an example for us all on how to live and I would to honor him by doing this.
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure - Austin on March 27th, 2022. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 84,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
