In Loving Memory of Sarah Ann Pickett
Hello all,
I will be participating in the Head for the Cure 5K - NC Triangle on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 in memory of my wonderful girlfriend and love of my life, Sarah Ann Pickett. Sarah would be turning 32 shortly before the race date, on February 2nd. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
As most of you are aware, Sarah passed away peacefully on Sept 7, 2021 at the young age of 31 after courageously battling Stage 4 Glioblastoma (GBM) Multiforme, one of the deadliest brain cancers, for 4.5 years. Sarah, who was (and is) probably the kindest and most gracious person I know, always put others before herself, no matter how much struggle she faced. Since her initial battle with GBM, Sarah survived numerous surgeries, treatments, and battled several recurrences and complications, but her fighting spirit always endured, and to the very last days, she lived her life with optimism and kindness beyond words. Through Sarah and through the power of Christ, I have seen true miracles occur in front of my eyes multiple times. Many of us believe that miracles can still occur and we know that cure for brain tumors, including GBM, does exist out there. I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in the Head for the Cure 5K - NC Triangle on Sunday, February 27th, 2022. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 80,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight. Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors, including GBM.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal in our loving memory of Sarah, celebration of her life and her upcoming birthday, and to help other patients battling brain cancer. We can defeat this and find a cure!
Best,
Tim Lee
