Welcome to My Personal Page
As some of you know, my brother was diagnosed with brain cancer (Grade III Oligodendroglioma) in 2014. He has undergone two surgeries, chemo and radiation and is doing well now, but will never be free of the cancer. The money raised from this race benefits the UCSF Brain Tumor Center where he receives his care. My mom, his caregiver, also benefits from the support programs they offer for families as well. We are so very lucky that he lives here so he can see their experts and surgeons.
I have registered as a participant in the 2020 San Francisco 5K event. Head for the Cure helps to raise awareness and critical funds for brain cancer research. For more information about Head for the Cure and its important work, please visit their website.
Head for the Cure 2020 San Francisco takes place on 04/04/2020, which is 18 months from my foot surgery. I didn’t expect to run again, but thanks to a great surgeon, I will finish the C25K program today and am doing fine (though I’m still slow). Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure San Francisco on April 4th, 2020. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 80,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
