Welcome to Kathee's Personal Page for Team Susan
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure-Orlando on Feb. 8, 2020. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
I join this team, Team Susan, in support of Susan Tyler, the mother of Ben Ward. For the past four years, Ben was a recipient of a scholarship from the West Orange Scholarship Foundation, of which I am President. The Board of Directors and I have been so impressed by and proud of him. When faced with his mother's diagnosis of stage 4 glioblastoma, he considered quitting to go home and be by her side. Through deep contemplation, however, he chose to stay. He graduated last May with a degree in biomedical sciences; and, he now persues Medical School and plans to specialize in neuro oncology. We know he will go on to do great things with his life and we will be cheering for him. I am pleased to have this opportunity to support this cause with him on Team Susan.
Also, on a very personal note, I will walk the Head for the Cure 5K in memory of my father, Bill Kittle, who passed on the very day of the event 11 years ago, Feb. 8, 2009. He was 77 years old, and I miss him daily. His brain was donated to medical research. My prayer is that a cure is found in the very near future.
Please read on to learn more, but also, please consider joining me and the team, walking or running with us, or simply donating. Please help us cure brain cancer
Each year, over 80,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
Thank you. God bless you.
