* Super Mom *
May 23rd 2019 changed everything for my family! I came home from out of town, ate dinner, watched a movie with my family, and went to bed. I woke up 3 days later in the hospital. Confused.....I asked my mom where am I. She told me I was in the hospital. I said why?? She said because I had 3 seizures. It really didnt make sense. Within the next 24 hours I was told I had a brain tumor and that I would be havhaving surgery. That i should be preprepared to hear it was cancer. No one believed it, but i knew it was true. It had to be. May 30th the surgery happened. And then we waited. It took forever. June 14th the phone rang. It was the surgeon. Stage 3 AA brain cancer. It was a new world. They asked if I wanted to know what could happen. Of course.....3-5yrs.....the workd stopped in that moment. In 5 years our youngest would only be 9. Who would teach our girls how to be moms. How to drive?? It wasn't going to happen. I couldn't let it. Radiation and chemotherapy became my life. I had to bet it. And God was with me. Every day. Every step. He has held my hand. September 2020 it ended. Survivor. It still is crazy. Every appointment, every headache, I'm nervous. But I have bet it. And I thank you all for your support!!!
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure St. Louis on June 26th 2022 Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
