Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal! Team Turner will include our family members who will be supporting this year's virtual event! If any of our friends are interested in joining the team, we would be honored to have you (if you register for the team, you will get a t-shirt and participation medallion in the mail after the event!) Also, any general donations to Head for the Cure in honor of Turner will be greatly appreciated! There is such a great need for innovative research for rare brain tumors and we need to make sure the COVID situation (changing this to a virtual event) does not negatively impact fundraising.
I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Omaha on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step! Your donation will be in honor of Turner Russell, currently battling Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma. Turner is a cancer survivor since discovery of the tumor in August, 2018. He has benefited from clinical trial and other treatments through Buffet Cancer Center in Omaha. Updates on Turner are posted in a Caring Bridge site located at https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/turnerupdates
