Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
As many of you know, about a year ago now (Feb 22, 2018 to be exact) Mark's cousin, 5 year old Layla Evetts, was diagnosed with DIPG and given no longer than 9 months to live. From her mom's blog on Facebook "Love for Layla" "We heard that DIPG was "incurable", "inoperable", and "not treatable". MD Anderson approximated she would only live 3-6 months without treatment. She was immediately put on hospice and we were reeling"... Layla has undergone a year of weekly trips to Houston, chemo and radiation and MRIs. She is now in maintenance mode and we are so happy.
I have not been able to go to any of the fundraisers that were held for her in her hometown so when the chance to support and raise funds for research became possible in Midland, I was happy to do my small part.
I am joining the fight against all brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Midland on March 23rd, 2019! Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
