Thank you for visiting our team page and helping us to reach our fundraising goal!!!
TEAM BIANCHI is joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Midland on March 23rd, 2019. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
I came home for Father's Day weekend in June 2014, as if it were any other routine trip to Midland. Nothing was out of the ordinary. On Monday night, after I had returned to Forth Worth, I received the phone call that no child ever wants to receive. My mother was in the hospital with a mass in her brain that they couldn't determine what it was.
Less than 1 month later my family would receive my mother's prognosis, a cross between Grade III – Anaplastic Astrocytoma & Grade IV – Glioblastoma. My mother told me I asked the Doctor if the treatment plan he gave us “would that fix my mom”? I did not put two and two together that day he was telling us she would not live to see Christmas that year.
On October 5th, 2014, my mother passed away. I was overseas on an assignment for work that my mother encouraged me to go. I remember walking back to my room from the thrift store, at the exact time my mother passed away I literally felt her leave. A mother/daughter connection is unlike any other, and me and my moms was no exception to that rule. She was my sole mate and my life line. I got back to my room and received a text message to call my dad because my mother was gone. Less than 4 months from diagnosis, I lost my mother. I also lost myself that day.
Aside from raising awareness for more money to be made available, I hope to provide awareness through my story what it is like to deal with losing a family member so abruptly to Grade III – Anaplastic Astrocytoma & Grade IV – Glioblastoma cancer.
To hear my full story I am always open to share. Through sharing my pain I hope to heal myself but also help others that have suffered such a dreadful loss.
