Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
On December 23, 2017, Joe Scorziell, my wonderful father, was diagnosed with GBM4 after suffering from major headaches and what he thought was the flu. He retired 1 month early because of his health and hoped that stress was making his symptoms worse. My mom, his wife of 43 years (at the time of diagnosis) planned on retiring at the end of January. However, this news expidited her retirement too. They had such grand plans for their retirement, traveling, fixing up their house to sell and move into a smaller living area. This horrible beast had different plans. From diagnosis to August 24th, 2018, he had 3 craniotomies, Afib, blood clot in his lung, a shunt, a visit to a rehab facility, a short stay at Dodd and then the inevitable. He couragously fought for 9 months. To see what brain cancer does to your loved one is beyond anything anyone can imagine. Through all of visits to the James we felt so close to the doctors, nurses and any of the hospital staff. Dr. Pudivalli's team was amazing!
Because the James staff was amazing to our family and cared for my dad so wonderfully, I am joining the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Columbus on May 22, 2021. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
Each year, over 79,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
