Help Team Wardo!
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal for Head For the Cure!
I signed up for my FIRST 5K in July 2018, to honor our dear friend Cody Warden. Cody, aka 'Wardo' battled brain cancer twice, defying the odds in his first diagnosis, and then bravely fighting once more when it returned years later. We lost Cody because of this damn disease, but I truly felt as I trained in the weeks that led up to the run, and then the day of, that Cody was somehow with me, pushing me through. That was classic Wardo - said what he thought, loud and unapologetic about it, the life of the party and the MOST LOYAL friend a person could ask for. We miss him every day, and the strength shown by his girls and wife, Darbi, is truly admirable. We love this family very much.
Cody and his wife, Darbi, were longtime advocates for Head for the Cure, dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research. I have known and seen too many amazing people devastated by this terrible disease: Jack Hoffman, David Wenzel, Evan Sharp. OVER IT. And I want to make a difference to help stop it.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step! I will not let you down - and am so grateful to all of you for considering a donation. Thank you!
