Please help me in the fight to eliminate brain cancer
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
I am continuing the fight against brain cancer by participating in Head for the Cure Chicago on October 18, 2020. Head for the Cure is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for brain cancer research.
As you may know, one of my best friends, Brandon Knight, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2010, at age 30. Nearly 11 years later, Brandon is still fighting against this terrible disease. Brandon has battled the ups and downs of this disease over the past 10 years, while raising a beautiful family with his wife, Rachel, son Asher, and daughter, Banner. This year has been particularly challenging as Brandon is now confined to a wheelchair and has lost most of his ability to move his limbs. But despite these challenges, Brandon has a positive spirit and drive that is unmatched by anyone I have ever met. I was able to visit him a week ago and ran my 'virtual 5k' near his home and along some of the same paths that he takes on his 'walks'. It was an emotional time but there were good memories that will last with me for the remainder of my life.
Please join me in raising awareness and funds to wipe out this disease.
Each year, over 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
