Stacy Stillman - Still Drummin'
Thank you for visiting my personal page and helping me to reach my fundraising goal!
On September 13, 2011, our lives changed forever. In the early morning hours, our son Ethan experienced a grand mal seizure which we learned was caused by a previously unknown brain tumor in his right temporal lobe. Ethan was barely three weeks in to his freshman year of high school, but he was now facing the prospect of brain surgery along with an unknown prognosis and recovery. Through the inspiringly skilled hands of his truly gifted doctors, the majority of his tumor was removed and Ethan recovered fully from his operation. After seven years, Ethan's prognosis remains good, but he faces a lifetime of regularly scheduled monitoring due to the threat his residual tumor presents. Our family has been incredibly fortunate to benefit from the extraordinary efforts of Head For The Cure. The money that they raise goes directly to the critical work of curing the disease and raising awareness.
Each year, over 200,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. More than 120 types of brain tumors exist, making effective treatment complicated. Cutting edge research is needed as we continue to make strides in this fight.
Head for the Cure works to inspire hope for the community of brain cancer patients, their families, friends, caregivers and other supporters, while celebrating their courage, spirit and energy. Every Head for the Cure event marks a day of celebration where those diagnosed with brain cancer are honored and celebrated by their friends and families, those who have lost their battles are remembered, and we are all inspired to carry on the fight.
Funds raised by Head for the Cure support the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
Please consider making a donation today to help me reach my goal and to help Head for the Cure defeat brain cancer, step by step!
Every donation is meaningful. We truly appreciate your support and hope that you will also consider joining us for the walk Sunday, October 21st.
